5 HEALTHY WAYS TO DEAL WITH STRESS

Whether you are currently feeling bogged down with never ending homework or just looking for some better ways to manage your stress, these 5 simple tips will help you get your mind on track for a happier and healthier life!


Take Care Of Your Basic Needs

We all have these 3 basic needs: food, water, and sleep! Especially when we are focusing hard on something, like work or school, we forget about these 3 needs! When you notice that you’re feeling stressed, try asking yourself, “when was the last time I ate something?” Quick snacks that will keep you alert and feeling refreshed include apples, trail mix, or a smoothie. Try to drink 6-8 cups of water a day. Get a goodnight’s rest and set a schedule to get at least 8 hours of sleep.


Spend Time Outside

Did you know? Getting 10-15 minutes of sunlight a day has been proven to boost your mood, strengthen your bones, and help you sleep!


Take a Break

School got you down? Family stress? Take a break and do something you enjoy! Paint a picture of your pet, take a walk around a nature park, or listen to some music.


Hop Off the Web

Constantly checking for new posts on social media can create a feeling of anxiousness. Take a break from your phone and set it aside in another room. You may be surprised with how much stress that can relieve!


Talk It Out

Reach out to someone you can trust and tell them how you’re feeling. While it may be awkward at first, talking to someone else about why you’re feeling stressed can actually help you recognize other things you can do to help yourself feel better. Also, it may help you realize that stress affects everybody and that you are not alone!
